Katie Young
Board Member
Katie Young brings a lifelong connection to the Clarks Fork Yellowstone watershed and a strong background in conservation, restoration, and watershed planning. Born and raised in Red Lodge, Katie grew up exploring the waterways of Carbon County and developed an early appreciation for the rivers, streams, and landscapes that shape the community.
She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies from the University of Montana in 2016 and spent several years working in conservation and restoration, including weed management, range surveys, erosion control, tree planting, and river restoration. In 2024, Katie earned a Master of Science in Watershed-Scale Restoration Planning from Western Colorado University. She then returned home to Red Lodge to serve as the Beartooth Project Manager for Montana Trout Unlimited, where she works to implement river restoration projects along the Beartooth Front.
Katie first became involved with CFYP through the water quality sampling program in June 2024 and joined the Board in May 2026. She believes healthy rivers create healthy communities and is inspired by community-led conservation efforts across Montana. She values learning from those who work the land and building connections to address the conservation challenges facing the Clarks Fork Yellowstone watershed.
